In contrast to normal sadness, bipolar disorder can put you in a state of severe depression that could last a long long time. And when that is done, as though it wasn t enough, you could switch inexplicably to a state of unexplained ecstasy. Sure, the whole time you are irrational and irritable, making it difficult for people to be around you. You should see a shrink and get some medication before such symptoms drive you over the edge and you do something you might live to regret.
All the people, all the work, and all the activities that used to bring pleasure to you no longer can when you are in the depressive state of bipolar disorder. And when you are in the manic state, you wouldn’t be able to keep it together because absolutely everything would look like good enough reason to be excited. Even though you might not know it then, your life and all that you hold dear, are in danger if you do not get medication fast. This mental condition has killed people in the past. Don’t let that happen to you.
One thing that may happen to you when you are suffering from bipolar disorder is that you might eventually start looking for ways to actually harm yourself. Having been all over the place, unable to find meaning, a sense, or a purpose to what you are doing, it might not be too long before you begin to get creative, only not in the right way. Very disturbing.
According to Sigmund Freud, if you experience some unconscious anger over a loss it could weaken the ego substantially enough to result in self-hate and self-destructive behavior. Something like that is what happens when you suffer from bipolar disorder, as you are not able to coordinate or make sense of anything. If you had a good grip on your ego, you would have less to get frustrated about, and so less chances of getting manic depressive.
