Contending For the Fullness of the Prophetic Anointing
We are very concern with the doctrine we are teaching. This is very good and biblical too. But often we overlook the significant of our experiences. Being a Christian is more than being a good man. We must demonstrate the power and authority to confirm the gospel we preach. Of course, our faith does not depend on our personal experiences but on the word of the Lord. But this must not be used as an excuse to not contend for the fullness of prophetic anointing as what we read in the book of Acts. Here are some ways we should be walking in according to the Word of the Lord to receive greater portion of the anointing.
First, we must have a clear vision for the fullness of the Holy Spirit. There is more. The Lord desires to give us His fullness. We must be in agreement with Lord in order to receive what He gives us. Just like salvation, the work has been fully completed by Jesus, but we have to respond with faith in agreement with the Lord in order to receive it. The same applies to the prophetic anointing of the Holy Spirit. It is a free gift but we need to receive it with a clear vision for the fullness. Do not be satisfied with a little bit of personal experiences. You know deep down in your heart that there is more. Continue to press in believing that you can receive the fullness as the Lord promised.
Second, to whom has more will be given. If we treasure what the Lord has given to us and we steward it faithfully, more will be given to us. So, while we contend for the fullness and do not settle for less, we are grateful for whatever the Lord has already released. Do not despise the day of small beginnings.
Thirdly, in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests made known unto God (Phil 4:6). Prayer and fasting is the way for the power of God to break forth. He gave us this great privilege to pray and cooperate with Him in releasing His blessings. Prayer and fasting do not earn us more blessings and they position and tenderize ourselves to receive and be in agreement with God. And while we are in deeper agreement with the Lord, our prayers release greater power.
Fourth, we must live the Kingdom of Heaven lifestyle. We do this by living according to what the Lord taught us in the Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5-7). An old wineskin cannot carry new wine. Our inner man is reborn through the Holy Spirit. We must be holy as our Father is holy. We believe we can because we know that we are no longer a slave of sin but a slave of righteousness. We seek to live totally free of compromise. But when we fail, we do not get discouraged but we repent and try again wholeheartedly.
Finally, do not think that it is cool or fun to operate in the prophetic anointing. What comes with a greater portion of the anointing is reproach and stigma. We bear our own cross to follow Jesus. As we grow more mature and receive more of His anointing, we are honored to walk in more of Jesus\’ path. And His path is characterized by suffering. We are counted worthy to suffer with Him. This works for us in the sense that it keeps us humble and relying on the Lord. But more importantly this works for the eternal plan of God. How great is the glory to cooperate and partner with the God of the most high!
